One of our Facebook forum members asked a sharp question: independent hosts are paid based on a player's theoretical loss, which adds to the casino's expenses. Does that mean players get smaller offers when they use an outside host instead of an on-property host?

No. Your comps and offers are not reduced because you work with an independent host. Players receive offers based on their play.

Same comp rules

An independent host works with the same comp parameters as an on-property host. The math behind your offers does not change.

Different priorities

• An independent host's first priority is keeping you happy as their player, so you keep booking with them.
• An on-property host's first priority is keeping their boss happy and their bonus structure in line.

An independent host will negotiate the best possible comp package for your play, because they want you to stay happy and continue booking. An on-property host can be more reserved with comps, because they have P&L targets and budgets to stay within to keep their bonus.

Pay for performance

Look at it from a compensation perspective:

• An independent host is only compensated when players book with them, and keep booking with them.
• An on-property host is salaried by the casino and receives that salary whether a player is happy or not.

The key takeaway: with an independent host, the relationship is between you and your host. With an on-property host, the relationship is between the host and casino management.
