It is very challenging for a pit boss to properly monitor every player at every table. Most pit bosses will ask you what you think your numbers should be, and many will give you the benefit of the doubt. It is always worth asking.

What rides on your rating

Your future offers depend on how the casino evaluates your play, including:

• Airfare
• Free play
• Show, sports, and concert tickets
• Room offers
• Gifts

Your rating matters more than ever

Casinos have been tightening their ratings, which reduces the value of offers. Points are also worth less than they used to be: many restaurants and shops only accept them at 2:1 or 3:1, and prices are often marked up when you pay with points. That makes an accurate rating crucial, so monitor it carefully.

Not all average bets are the same

Make sure you are getting credit for the right bets, especially long-shot bonus bets that carry a high house edge.
